The CG practices that w/ their inflatables but they throw a drogue out to keep the bow facing the incoming surf.

There is no way that is an "engine stall out". Why doesn't it do that if you just pull the throttle back all the way?

With inboard boats like that ski-boat you can do a "power-slide" turn where the boat will literally turn 180* in its' own length and be facing directly back in the wake that it came from. I've always done them by going fast, make a slight turn one direction, then a full turn the other direction while pulling the throttle back to neutral. The bow will tend to stuff itself into the water and the rest of the boat will spin around on the bow.

I'm guessing that he does a similar manuever and somehow "really stuffs" the bow into the drink.

Then again it's hard to see. It kind of looks like it starts to dive before actually turning?

I saw another video like it where the guy sunk a mid-engine ski boat by throwing it into reverse while underway. That one also features a lot of people abandoning ship while not wearing PFDs. Dumb.

If you watch carefully, this guy seems to be moving the throttle lever all the way forward right before it plows under, and with the prop in the middle of the boat, I can see how the stern would rise and the bow would dive.

Must be nice having money to burn.

It's called a submarine.

Alot of people with jet boats do them. All you do it put the boat in reverse and hammer the throttle. Aside from the water it really doesn't hurt the boat.

Jet boats don't have reverse the impeller for reverse, they drop a small gate behind the exhaust that deflects the water to create reverse.

There's a first after being on the water 47 years.

The closet I've ever came to that was in a 16' jet boat. I was with a friend and our wives. I spied a very large wake from a 50' +/- yacht. I got up speed and headed directly into it. At the last second I decided when we landed it was gonna hurt (the boat - not us). A wall of water came over the bow. I ducked under the windshield. Everyone else got drenched. My buddy in the back seat got the worst of it. He cried for three years afterwards. It was his boat too! I wish I could do it again!

Hey Bubba, watch this . . .!

I've never seen anything like that before, except for hitting a huge wake. After replaying it a few times, it looks intentional. He is doing something at the helm beefore the plunge and is immediately in reverse afterwards. Good thing, cause the water goes right out again via the open bow.

It might be fun for them, not me.

I read an in-depth article on what happened, I cannot find a link now. This was at a skiing exhibition and water tricks show. Just before the video opened another boat had gone thru there on a return trip or preparing for another trick and had left a trough. This boat operator did not see the trough and was going to do some kind of power turn trick or stopping short or whatever, and did it right in the trough and that is why it went under so much. Not his boat so they are all smiles!
