Hello,

Was hoping to get some help with a carburetor rebuild: I picked up a rebuild kit from a local dealer, and it seems that instead of the original rubber needle valve packing washers, they are made of cork. Does this sound correct?

The other question I have, is about a piece that came in the rebuild kit, that I can not identify- it is a hard red disk (washer of sorts)- there is only one. Anybody have a clue as to what this goes to?

Many thanks to anybody who can set me straight.

It may be an old stock kit, cork was pretty common for gaskets, should be fine.

Alot of times the kits cover more than one carb and have extra parts, as long as everything that had a gasket or seal has a new one you are okay.

I am guessing but will the red washer fit the bowl drain screw, I beleive mine is red.

The packings never were rubber that I know of. Always some sort of gasket material. Never saw a cork one though. Is that OEM or aftermarket?
