Re: 1974 Johnson 35hp Carb Settings

first thing everyone will tell you is to clean the carb first.

secondly, there is an air/fuel screw on the front opening of the carb.
pay careful attention to its current postion
(count how many turns to seat it softly. ex: 1-3/4 turns out)

i looked up 1974 johnsons and did not see a 35HP.
is your model info correct?

when the boat's in the water adjust that screw in or out 1/4 turns until you find the sweet spot.

I couldn't find a 74 35 hp in my aftermarket service manual But low speed needle valve initial setting is one turn open from gently seated.Final setting should be done warm idling in gear about 650 rpm.
