Any help on this? I am replacing my trim cylinders and the female threads on the gimbal housing are coroded down to a couple of threads (I can't get the line started).

Is there a solution or trick to fix this (besides a new gimbal housing). Any help would be appreciated.

What are you working on? Mercruiser? What?

I would think that most outdrives would use a manifold that the trim lines are connected to. You simply replace the manifold, not the gimbal housing. But that depends upon what you are working on I guess...

Sorry and thanks for the quick response.
Its a 1986 mercruiser 140 in a Chaparral w/alpha outdrive.
It sure doesn't look like a manifold but I'm standing in the water as I work.
Can it be tapped at all?

Thanks again.

I don't believe you will be successful trying to tap or fix the threads. The manifold is relatively inexpensive. Here's what it looks like:
