Alpha One, New upper - break in period?

I just had my Alpha One (gen 1) drive repaired - new aftermarket upper and rebuilt lower (cleaned, new seals, etc.). Is there a break in period for a drive like there is for a new engine? I'll check with the mechanic when i pick up the boat also.

Ayuh,....

I probably wouldn't go out for WOT prop tests,+ acceleration testing for 10 or 20 hours,....
And I would probably Check or maybe change the oil at that time,....
But,...

OK, thanks. I'll be changing the oil more often now that I ruined one drive!

As long as it's OK do do some light kids' watersports with a new upper....I don't need WOT for a while!

the aftermarktet drives don't have the gears lapped at the factory... and so need to be worn in to consistent wear patterns... My lowed stopped shedding metal after about 10-15 hours...
