Merc 140hp 3.0 engine help

i got this boat off ebay and its been nothing but problems. I found out that the engine that was in it had a cracked block so i went and bought a used boat from someone and was tearing the engine out to put it in mine....guess what cracked block so i have a question about using a automotive block with my engines head. my dad owns a salvage yard and it would be really easy to find a gm 3.0 block any help on what would be the cheapest thing to do without patching or trying to weld my block would help tremendously.

The 3.0L engines were never automotive, Only industrial.

The words Cheap and Boats do not work well together. If you are looking for a fix that is cheap, it's called epoxy and keeping your fingers crossed every time you go out on your boat.
