Still no tach!!

Replaced rectifier because my tach would work intermitently, now it won't work at all.

When I hit the key it will jump to 1500 then 0 out and not move.

The tach is set correctly and when I put the new rectifieron I changed one wire at a time so it is wired right.

I will trouble shoot tommoro but any ideas about where to start would be appriciated

Could be a bad tach but did you test the stator while you had the rectifier disconnected?

Oddly enough it worked my whole trip last time before I changed the rectiifer, but the trip before that it would work and quite or not work at all.

I checked awhile ago and it was charging the battery.

I will start with cleaning all the wire ends to make sure that isn't it, maybe a wire between the engine and tach, very frustrating.

So yesterday I had about 1 1/2 hours till we had to leave, I pull the big red plug just for grins, the pin for the tach is stuck in the wrong side of the plug so I jump the wire across the plug and start the boat, now not only does the tach not work you can't shut the boat off with the key, you have to choke it down to get it to stop.
Didn't want to do anyhting to make it not run so I left it alone after that.

Went fishing today, ran like a top and went 29 MPH, best ever is 30 so it runs really good just can't shut it off with the key. ?????
