Well we went out to the boat launch on Thursday evening.
All went well. Here are some pics.

The boat launch is visible in the background.

Are you supposed to go down the boat launch while facing the water?

:)

A little bit of fun here.

I got some good video too, but they are large for uploading 4-8MB

We were going into the turns at around 40-45 MPH on the 4X4's and hitting 60 MPH on the straights.
The sport quad would lap the 4X4's about every 3-4 laps, so it was even faster.
Unfortunately his dirt bike had a flat tire, so we didn't bring it. It is a blast, a Kawasaki 500 that you can lay over very far and turn on ice with no slipping.

Good pics. Those mountains in the background are quite impressive. How thick is the ice there?

Not sure of the actual thickness. The ice roads are still open and it is at least 3 feet thick still. There is a bit of runoff near the boat launch that can get tricky, but other than that it was good.
BTW, the trucks in the background are parked on the ice. We are going out tomorrow to watch the races. I will take a picture of the "parking lot" ON the lake.

Oh yea, as in Ice Road Truckers.

Actually it is just like that, but it is for everybody to use.
Some of the cabins on this lake are only accessible by car in the winter. They use the ice roads to bring in their heavy stuff.
It is a trip to feel the "wave" and know that a big truck is coming. The popping and cracking is loud and pretty unnerving the first time you hear it.

The mountains are beautiful up here. That was one of the things that drew me back up here.
