Hi guys, I know that this subject was discussed many time, but after checking out about 60 some post I can't find an answer to my problem.

Model 85tl79, I'm able to tilt/trim up and down manually (green with +, blue with - it goes does down) (blue with+, green with -, it goes up) the problem is that engine came originally with a 3 wires tilt/trim motor, the last owner change the motor for a two wire one(green/blue), he told me that the only thing I needed was a relay, but that engine came with a solenoid . If I connect everything like the book says, I'm missing the ground wire from the tilt/trim motor since it's a two wire type motor. Could that explain why I can't get it to work(not having that ground wire from the motor) ?

Thanks guys

I thing I'm going to have a headheck. Ok after looking at the wiring pdf using the reversing solenoid (man, that thing is big),this means that I have no use for the solenoid I have right now? What is the difference between the two?

What puzzles me is the middle wire coming out of my remote control switch is red so it isn't the ground, or does it matter ?

Ok, I think I'm getting it, should I mount the reversing solenoid close to the battery or the engine(8' apart ) ? Also, what size fuse should I use ? And if I add a second switch, it needs to be connected at the same place then the first switch ?

I'm going to build a new jonction box if I need to

You can take the power from the engine end of the battery cables if you can find a way to mount the switch on the engine.

If you visit radio shack they usually have a drawer for plastic component boxes if you want to enclose it.

Use this link for your setup drawings:

I'd use a 20 amp.

You can see on the picture how they cram in the relay boxes on the Loopers.

Thanks a million, good idea about installing it on the engine, will see if I have enough room, if not, I'll install it where the old junction box was located before.

Thanks again guys
