I just bought a 14' fiberglass runabout with a 45 hp Johnson Sea Horse outboard but I can't figure out the model or year of the boat. The pinkslip only says: Builder: Duo, Year Model: 0000 and the Vessel Hull Number: 06067.

I looked all over google for Duo boats and found that Starcraft bought the company in the early 60's but I still could not find anything that looks like this boat. Here are some pics of it.

Any tips / suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

i would date it late 60's the motor is in the 60's, and the lines of the boat is in that era. what is the model number on the motor transom mount? i don't remember a 45 hp. looks to be a johnson, or gale.

I'd definitely feel boat model year is 1967. Sometimes model years and manufacture dates are different. Go figure. The 45 hp puts it in the late '60's also. Jimbo:p

Thanks for the tips!

I checked the transom mount and the model # is RDL 25D - after some research I found it to be a 1963 Johnson 40hp. But I still can't figure out what model the boat is. Oh well.

So, I guess the next step is to start cleaning up the boat and check to see if everything works - and floats....

I can't help you on year, but just wanted to say that is a cool boat. Great lines.

There should be a plate of some kind, that will list the max hp, number of people, etc... Some times it is back near the motor, and other times it is up near the driver. Look some where near the shifter.

i've searched every inch of the the boat and have not found any capacity plate or other identifying plate or anything. I think it may have been removed by a previous owner for painting perhaps.

Thanks again for all your help!

Re: Any help identifying this boat?

I have a Glasspar of 1969 or later vintage, I found pics of original examples on the web, and it would have had a plastic or tin plate on the left side of the dash with a serial #, but it was long gone. This is the case with many old boats. Prior to '72 there was no officail HIN system.

This question comes up a lot, but I have yet to see someone unable to use a boat because of the lack of this tag.
