We just purchased an older Searay boat (we think lae 60's early 70s?) boat that has a 65 hp Mercury Four Single Lever - Full Gear Shift motor on it. This is the only writing on the motor. I believe the serial number is 1598189. Is anyone able to give any insight to this motor? We know for sure it isn't original as the previous boat owners just swapped this motor onto the boat itself recently.I believe it is a two stroke motor, because we can't find an oil tank anywhere on it... Any heads up, especially on how to figure out a year would be really helpful!
