how to get HP out of a 470

My 470 is in a Larsen 19.1/2 ft concorde I like the boat but it needs a rebuilt I wood like to see if I can get more HP out of a 470

I don't think there is much more HP to squeeze out of a 4 banger then the 470 & it's various mutations......​

Yeah, mo horsepower comes from mo engine . . . Yes, there are ways, but you don't want them. Sell the whole boat and buy something else. Best advice we can give you . . .

Is head porting, intake gasket matching, roller rockers and custom grind cam out of the question on boats??

I mean, if it were a car thats what I'd do. I know I'm a newb, But I don't see why one couldn't do all that.

The general consensus is that the 470 & its mutations were a Merc. brainstorm gone horribly wrong, from the voltage regulator to the camshaft seals & such.....
They are hard enough to keep running stock.....​
