Repower 3.0l to 383 stroker

Looking to add a little excitement to my boat.

A bit of a performance upgrade from 135 hp to 300+ hp but
what issues can I expect?

Will 383 4 bolt main mate with a Alpha 1?
Will the bellhousing and flywheel have to be
replaced?

Will a 383 with kill switch drop reliably to 700 rpm to accomplish
easy shifting?


Gear ratio and Prop pitch would have to be altered but will the Alpha 1 handle the exta hp? Bravo better alternative?

Any recommendations welcome

Alpha's are limited to 300 bhp, which limits you to the 350 Mag as your max. They are available from the factory with Alpha's, so I am sure there is shift interrupt stuff available for them.

You can't be serious ! If so, you must be one of those "Wild, & Crazy Guys!",,, lol. Anyway, the drive will work, (but, it's a lot of stress, and the gear ratio is wrong) but the transom piece may need to be switched, maybe it would work with thru-hull exhaust, the bellhousing won't fit, and I doubt the flywheel will. Is your hull sound enough for the extra power? You're in for a s**tload of work, and money, you'd be better off with a 350, or 350 Magnum marine.

The 383 stroker maybe overkill for the alpha 1 and the 350 may work just
fine. Will I have to get a new transom assembly to mate the motor?

There is one GM bellhouseing

The issue that will kill you is all the missing parts if you do not buy a compleat drive and motor

The y-pipe and all the small parts that it tie toghter


And the hull will need engine beds for a V-8 as it only has them for the 3.0 and there compleatly different



The best way is to find a V-8 boat and fix that up

They're Chevies,.... They'll All fit the Bellhousing..........

The Flywheel is mated to the Engine, so it's Engine Specfic.....

The Idle rpms of an Engine is Dependant on the build,+ tune of the engine,....
So,.... It depends on What 383 you use....

The Life Expectancy of the drive will be determined by the Righthand of the operator........
