Hi all,

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this.

I'm new at boating and just bought a used 1990 Sunbird Barletta 184 (18.5 ft).
The prop for this boat is 13 3/8 X 17 (little chips here and there). I guess this is the original prop. I just wonder if the boat is running at the optimal speed and WOT (I don't have much information about this boat). I can only do 31mph at 5400 rpm WOT.

Please advise.

Thanks

I don't think you are going to do much better than that. Make sure the boat is evenly loaded and the hull is clean.

Thank you very much bhile.

I don't expect much at speed but I just want to know if my set up is correct
(Engine performance, right prop, max speed and performance for a 90hp, correct WOT prm).

Barletta, I have a 17" pitch prop on my '98 150 Johnny. I am able to get 40 MPH at 4400 RPM. I would have thought that your 5400RPM would have been much faster.

Remember he only has a 90 ho, you cant really compare that to a 150, i guess that is why you said at 4400 you can go 40! As i suspect your boat will go faster than 4400rpm!
