Last trip out the alarm went off (solid alarm) on my Merc 115 engine, everything was running good. Engine wasn't overheating and plenty of oil. Engine a 2002 with a little under 1000 hr. Haven't got a clue. Alarm is constent even with engine off but key on.

Re: Engine Alarm

Disconnect the temp sensor, if the horn stops relace the sensor if it still blows disconnect the oil module and if you still have a horn there is a short in the wiring

Re: Engine Alarm

Good advice, looks line the oil sensor is bad. Next question is there is a float or contact in the oil reservoir. Can it be stuck causing the sensor to give alarm or can I assume the sensor insert is the problem. Not sure how to replace the float at the bottom of the reservoir.

Correction on the year of the motor, it is a 2000 Merc 115

Re: Engine Alarm

Yes, there is a float in the tank there is a magnet glued on the float that works the alarm. They are famous for falling off and the only rearonable repair I know is to replace the tank. Nice huh! Just unplug wires and if the alarm quits that the problem
