Hi, I searched the web for quite a while trying to find the year of my motor with no luck. It says 85 johnson on the side and the model# is 115ESL5E.
I found some simular matches but nothing with the same number if somone could help me i would appreciate it. thanks

Re: Motor Year

Are you sure that's the correct model #? 115 means 115 hp. Electric start Special. Long shaft (20"), 5E makes no sense on my list though. Neither does SE in case that's what it was.

Re: Motor Year

The last 2 digits should be numbers which is the model year.

The last letter will probably be a meaningless model run suffix, the two letters before that one will indicate a year. I-N-T-R-O-D-U-C-E-S is equivalent to 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-0. So 1988 is "CC" and so on. This of coarse is assuming we are talking about something new enough.
