I just purchased a 1964 18 foot glassmaster with a 1971 Evinrude 125hp. The motor ran back in september 2006 when the previous owner purchased it from the original owner. It has since sat for 8 months. I have not tried to start it as of yet, due to the battery being dead, and it being dark outside. What would you experienced boat mechanics suggest I do before I try to run the engine? The spark plugs and wires look brand new, as does the starter. The entire engine looks pretty clean inside and out. I was thinking maybe just getting a fresh gas/oil mixture, new battery, and go from there. Is there anything else that I can/should do also? Thanks in advance.
