First I would like to say these forums are pretty awesome I have learned alot just reading them for the last couple of days while im at work bored
I recently bought a boat with a 115hp Mariner inline 6 and forgive me because I currently have the boat in the shop taking a look at some stuff on the motor so I dont have the s/n off of it but it should be somewhere between 85-89. The problems I have with it so far is it doesnt always want to start and when does start it takes a while to get started and it only will open up to about 1800-2000 rpm before wanting to die until i ease the throttle back. I replaced all the spark plugs in it already since having it. I noticed that inside the cowl it looks like there is a solenoid with from what i remember 4 wires plugged up to it and a few of those wires are corroded and acutally exposed. there is also various other wires inside it that are in dire need of replacing. My quesitions are do I need to use a special marine grade wiring or anything when replacing these wires. I suspect they may be causing some of my issues. And the carb prob needs to be rebuilt. I have it in the shop right now for them to tell me what needs to be done exactly to get it running but im just curious NOW and they are taking a long time to get to my boat :/
thanks for any help you guys can give
