I am leaking 2 cycle oil from a hose connected to a tee coming from the oil injection tank on my 1986 Mariner 150. It is coming from the hose indicated by the red arrow in the photo. As you can see, there is a good bit of oil around where it is coming from.

I haven't pulled my manual out as of yet as I loaned it to a neighbor...last fall.

Re: Oil Leak

This is a hose that is connected to the brass tee coming directly from the oil tank. I would imagine this is one of the check valves, but I would like to verify this before I take off to the Merc dealership.

Yes, that is one of the check valves and they do leak. I just replaced the one on my 89 200 HP Merc a few months ago. They are about $12-15.
If you need to use the engine before you get a chance to fix it, drill a hole in a small clear platic water bottle and stick it on the end of the hose. ANY way, that was what I did to confirm where the oil was coming from.

Re: Oil Leak

Thanks for the reply. 12-15 bucks? This is an outboard, I didn't think there were any parts under 48.99;)

I will stop by the dealer tomorrow to pick up the part.

Thanks again!

Is there supposed to be a clamp on it? I don't see it in the pic.

Re: Oil Leak

There are zip-ties on most of the fittings. This particular hose is an overflow I believe, so probably no need for anything holding it beyond the elasticity of the hose.

Re: Oil Leak

Got the check valve at the Merc dealer yesterday. 25 bucks for that little brass tee, ouch! I need to check around, I've noticed this shop is a little pricy.

Definitely was the problem; new one passes one-way only, old one- either way.
