Re: Spraying Marine Urethanes
OK that ordeal is over, i experienced difficultie's getting this cheap HPLV sprayer to shoot this PrimeKote, two error's were made in doing this, one trying to reduce the base paint down to a point that the gun would shoot it, that led to orange peel, and two when it did shoot it out it, the gun still wasn't enough to atomize the paint leaving it spitting or heavy droplet's,
This left a very rough finish (no sag's) the coating is very dense (which is good very high build) and is is quite hard. Now i am a lazy old bugger and do not like to sand so.......i just blamed it on the Paint (if you can call it that) I took about six hours to get it down a smooth finish that was smooth as glass (corsses finger's)
The second go around was the same but i did try a different method, this time i used the brushing solvent hoping it would flow a bit better and it did, just barely. The finish is not so peeled but still a bit bumpy and will require hour's to smooth it out, but i am done. The perfection will not have this issue as it is not a building primer............if so i am going to have a big burbon and come up with a different plan.......
Anyway's if you can get your hands on a good airless sprayer i will save you a few hour's of sanding, Oh as to wiping down between coat's i just use acetone cheaper and just as good, at least for me....
As to a sander id just get a good electric orbital for large flat surface's, tough spot's a sponge and by hand as alway's..
