Re: The Presidential $1 Coin Program

I do collect some but I like folding money better.
I always like to get the uncirculated coins when they first come out.

Stupid. I can carry 20 bills in my pocket or wallet and hardly notice they're there. I can't carry more than one coin without it being a pain in the ass, and nobody's wallet has a place for coins...

How many times has the dollar coin idea failed miserably now?

Frankly, I could do without all forms of cash in 2007...

I almost never carry cash. I always use Debit/Credit.

They do look much better than the last gold coins they tried, but I don't know if they will be any more successful.

Like Z said, coins are a PITA.

Re: The Presidential $1 Coin Program

Well I'm like everyone else.
When we break a bill the change is history.
I collect coins. I never carry change in my pockets.
All change goes into a jar. They pay for fishing, hunting and wood working tools.

Special coins like the new state quarters and nickels go to my wife.
We know this isn't smart but she has several thousand dollars
of state quarters all rolled by each state. Just a hobby.
Same thing with the 1 dollar coins.. and .50 cent pieces.

Her first round trip to Hawaii to meet me there in 1984 was paid for from her collection of .50 coins.

Same thing with the $2.00 BILL IN 1990/91
Back then during the Seattle boat shows factory reps would
pay a thousand dollar bonus for the first boat sold then 500 for the second and a 100 per boat and a bonus for the most sold during the ten day show.

One rep payed in two dollar bills only
At the end of the show (ten days) I had over $5000.00 in $2.00 bills.
We still have them in a shoe box somewhere?
Same thing with this new dollar coin.
We will collect them and it will be a bust.

That's what I do Link, but the ones I get has never been in circulation.
I have I think 3 or 4 complete sets of the quarters, all uncirculated.

It's kinda fun to collect them to see what all you can get in a lifetime.

Coins make my purse heavy, I prefer paper money.

paper here! I really don't care that coins can be made cheaper than bills, I don't want them. I do use cash (it is still accepted almost everywhere) when I get home I toss all the change I have into a jar, at christmas it is deposited into my grand daughters savings account. I do save a coin here and there for my collection.

rwise, going from $1 bills to $1 coins is supposed to save the gubmint $600 million. Thats a lot of sacagawea's! I agree it'll never work though.

I wish they would come out with $200 bills. Maybe then I'd get some change.
