I have a 130hp Johnson looper that has been running flawlessly for ten years of heavy usage. I recently pulled the heads to check on the head to block gasket surface and it was perfect, not a hint of bypass. The cylinder walls are almost blemish less, still see the hone marks clearly. It should have years of life left.

At ten years old I am wondering about the VRO pump. If it fails will it tell me before its too late? My dash has the low oil and no oil indicators.

Should I go ahead and replace it? And if I do is there anything I should look out for?

Thanks for your help

A 98 130 didn't come with a VRO. It came with the OMS pump. If someone has put an older VRO on it. I'd change it back. If it's indeed an OMS pump I wouldn't worry about it. Just do as you're doing now -- make sure no water gets in the tank and check the use once in a while to verify.

Thanks for the come back.

What would the OEM # be for the OMS pump?

Been using WALMART oil since day one.
