The RAM I bought doesn't fit! HELP!!!

My computer came with DDR2 3200 RAM. I bought 4200, not knowing what was in it already. When I went to install it, the little slot near the center was about 1/8 inch off. It won't fit. Anybody know if different speeds of DDR2 RAM have different slot locations?

My fingers are bleeding from trying to get it to fit. It ain't happenin', not with that RAM anyway.

I don't think it will fit. I believe 4200 is 240 pin and 3200 is 184 pin.

Yep, forcing won't help. Return it and get the right stuff. Even if you made it fit it won't work.

Yep, it's the wrong RAM. HP told me it had DDR2 in it, and it does not, it has DDR, 184 pin. Not even the manufacturer knows what kind of RAM is in their machine.

Go figure.

I am not sure HP knows much about their products. I have never had much luck with their Tech. support in the past.

Maybe that is why I no longer buy HP products.
