It was built by Mercury, based off the old Chrysler design.
Merc put their lower unit, tilt and trim, flywheel, ignition system, charging system, fuel pump, carb?, choke, mid section, and most of the internal engine parts on the old block.
It is as good as it was maintained.
With all the Merc improvements, it was an ok engine.
Did not hold up to well if used in saltwater.
You should be able to get it real cheap.
