Chyrsle 70hp Year and oil mixture

Hi I just recently purchases an old 70 hp Chrysler motor<br />I Had the #1 lower rings go..<br />I need to determine the years and oil mixture<br />Model#707 Serial # 1011<br />I thought it was a 1969 based on the sticker inside the cover however It might be a 1970..<br />Need help.<br />Thx

Hello and welcome to iboats, I ahve a 7071 and mine is either a 69 or 70 also. someone else may be able to define it even more. You will have a hard time finding those rings you might have to replace piston as well. some parts are still avaivable though ebay and even through your local mercury dealer. if you are looking for a factory service manual or parts manual.There is a website called the chrysler crew which has the manuals and and the parts catalogues in a downloadable or a mail order format. Do you know for sure the rings are shot? some times they just get carboned up and stick. What is your compression in the number one cyl.?

There should be two letters that follow the 707 like HA or HC or maybe a number. The 7071 is a 1969 motor. Starting in 1970 letters started to follow the 707.
