My repair manual for my Force 75-HP - 1998 - says to adjust timing at cranking - I have to remove the plugs and install them in special tool tester for spark and perform timing checking while cranking. But what can I do if I dont have that tester, can I simply remove the plugs and short them to ground to prevent sparking or ground the plug wires only or leave the wires unplug with no plugs, Any idea ?

Thanks

Smokey :)

Allways ground the plug wire out when testing. Leaving them float ungrounded can damage the sensative CDU.

I think you need a spark tester, that will show the spark jumping a gap. Then you can put your timing light onto #1 lead.Grounding the plug wires will not give you the output your timing light needs.

DHP
