I think they used fiberglass for the floordeck starting around 63 so it might be 60-62 . The ribs and aluminum stringers look like Jons. My 64 Edinboro is all fiberglass floor and stringers.
The splashwell looks late 60's . Maybe 67 westfield?

I think I can narrow it down some


The step plates are 1963 or older. The last time I saw them used was on a 1963 Seaway

The length of 17' is more typical of an Edinboro.

The windshield, I've seen mostly on Eries

The aluminum stringers definitely date it at 1963 or older

In my opinion, your boat is a 1960, 1,2, or 3
At least now you know it has to fall into those 3 years

Lastly there should be a I.D. plate on the inner transom. most commonly found on the port side. I will check my reference material some more and see what else I can find for you.

My bit of quick research revealed this 1965 Edinboro.

Many similarities to your boat. Especially the windshield. I did not see any evidence of this very angular style in any earlier models.

Perhaps with some additional detail photos of your boat a better guess could be made?

I see were you are going with your line of thinking. But if you look closely at Evan's pic of his windshield, you'll notice it is mounted on wood.

I am leaning more towards it being an Edinboro, a '60 Thu 63 with a newer windshield. The aluminum stringers are the strongest evidence I can see for dating it.

More research of my material, indicates MFG went to Fiberglass stringers in 1963. So I can say with some confidence your boat is a 1962 or older. Again, I'm thinking it's an Edinboro with a updated windshield. A good pic of the bow deck could help some more.

Look at the splashwell . That looks more late 60's. Unless someone modified it.

The lap strake hull on these make a good ruff water boat.. Not sure on the 70hp . It's 17 ft so I think it would be ok my Edinboro is rated for an 85 and it's 16.5 ft..
