Pending Forum Software Upgrade

As an IT guy, I am looking forward to the forum upgrade over the next few days. Change is good

The announcement that I assume everyone has seen does a nice job in explaining the rationale and timing. Just wondering if the site admins can share more of the techy details of the upgrade (software, version, etc) for curious minds.

We're moving to Xenforo 2.1 - - there's some chatter about it over HERE.

Curt and his team have been working hard to fix a lot of things, including the forums. There's been a lot of spilled milk at iBoats the last few years, and these poor guys have been stuck with a lot of the mopping. Ultimately, as anyone on the forums could see, VBulletin was just a dog. The ADMIN team was trying to plug the holes, and keep it floating with the store. But ultimately, it became clear that the best way to fix it was to get rid of it.

The older versions of VBulletin seemed to be more stable and less problematic. I can imagine the amount of band-aids and bailing wire that the Tech Team has had to use to keep this running.

The upgrade has been pushed to 10/7/20 according to the new note.
