News and Notes
  • New complete race rule - If a race is shortened, it is considered complete either at the end of heat #2 or halfway, which ever is shorter.
  • Aero or car rules are unchanged for now or minor - Nascar tends to make mid-season changes.
  • Nascar has a schedule for Next Gen car testing. Spring testing is single car and late August - December have team testing. Short track, intermediate tracks and cookie cutter 1.5 mile tracks. Daytona and Talladega have no Next Gen car testing
  • Heat laps at some tracks have been reworked so a pit stop must be made during the 3rd heat.
  • Both Sonoma and Watkins Glen will be on the full course and all turns will used.
  • First time for a back to back race. Pocono will race on Saturday and Sunday the same weekend.
  • When X-Men race at Indy, the race will be on the F1 road course.
  • The Whining Twerp has energy drink an called Rowdy Energy and it's not part of Monster. Is he still part of Monster?
  • RIP Monster Energy Nascar Cup series.
  • Busch Beer, Coca-Cola, GEICO, Xfinity are the new shared premier sponsors. The champion's trophy is now known as the Coke or Coca-Cola Cup.
  • New Cup series name is Nascar Cup Series.

iBoats Fantasy Live
  • iFL is open for business at Nascar.com. Click the Fantasy Live link on the left side. Verify you were carried over from last year or join and create a team. Then join the iBoats League.
  • The rules are the same as last with one exception. The last ten playoff races you can only use a driver 5 times and you can pick any 5 drivers. Last year it was 2 playoff and 2 non-playoff drivers.
  • Your first cutoff is for the pole. The pole locks at 12:25 PM EST on Sunday before qualifying.

Clash practice was swept by the Gibbs team. Jones, Hamlin, Truex and The Whining Twerp the 4 fastest. Then a sextet of Fords and the fastest Chevy was Elliott in 11th.

1st Cup 500 practice is rolling off shortly.

1st Cup 500 practice had 13 cars drafting over 200 MPH. Clash practice had none.

Ty Dillon fastest followed by Stenhouse, Hamlin, Jones and Truex round out the 5 fastest.

Final pre-qualifying practice at 3 for 50 minutes.

Final practice before qualifying tomorrow - Bubba Wallace's Chevy fastest, 2 Fords of Custer and JH Nemechek, 4 Hendrick Chevys of Bowman, Johnson, Elliott and Byron, then Hamlin's Toyota, Stenhouse Chevy and 10th is Bowyer's Ford. No cars ran over 200 MPH in this practice.

Keso didn't make a lap in this practice session. Listening to MRN, he crunched one side of his car while leaving the garage while avoiding another car. The car is being fixed and after qualifying all cars are impounded until the Duels on Thursday, so it's fix it now or during the Duels.

I forgot to mention this in the 1st post - Johnson is in his last season before retiring.

Don't forget to make your pole pick by 12:25 PM EST tomorrow. 5 points now could make a difference come November. Fox is broadcasting qualifying and the 500. All the rest are on FS1 cable.

Stenhouse is on the pole with Bowman beside him. Ricky broke the 5 year long streak of a Hendrick car on the pole, but his car has Hendrick power so sorta still keeping the streak alive. After Stenhouse and Bowman - Elliott, Johnson and Hamlin round out the top 5.

I can type it faster than a C&P;

1) Stenhouse
2) Bowman

Gotta wait for the Duels for the rest of the starting spots. :D

^^^^^ Trying generate a new fan base? Next they'll be racing hybrids and electric cars.

Listening, not watching the Clash. There was a biggish wreck and who is one of the wreckers? Why The Whining Twerp! Joey was blocking TWT and he ran over Joey or it was Joey's fault according to Twitter. Got Keso too.

On the restart they didn't get to the 1st turn and another Big One. Every car on the track was involved except Hamlin, Almirola and Blaney. A Clash OT coming. Next Sunday will fill up Nascar junkyards

Elliott is leading under caution with a flat and pits are closed with wrecked cars and emergency vehicles. Only 5 cars are on the track.

Red flag with wrecked cars all over the track. This isn't right - Under a Clash red flag they can work on wrecked cars in the pits while Elliot is sitting stopped on track with that flat.

18 cars in the Clash and every one of them are damaged.
