Bottomed my mercruiser 470 out in the water and now am getting a strange noise when going in gear or reverse, it still engages but is a much different sound than prior to incident.
All of the above. Too little info to provide much help. Spin your prop and keep an eye on the center of the shaft. If it wobbles visibly, it's bent. If its severely bent, it could be the cause "a much different sound".
