Hi all.

I have a Merc L4 205 engine in good running condition. The top end was rebuilt a few years back.

I'm looking to sell it but do not know what I should be asking for it.

Any suggestions???

Depends on your area, and the demand. And exactly what you're selling, engine only, complete package. Though I have to ask, what's a 205? The only 4 cylinder engines Merc produced were 2.5L - 120hp, 3L -130/135/140hp and the infamous '470' (3.7L that came in 165, 170, 180, 185, 188, 190hp)...

Only 205 I know is a 4.3L V6, w/4bbl (1985 to 1996)

Chris.......

Thanks. I thought it was referred to as the 205 but I could be wrong.

It's the 3.7L 165 HP

I'm in Ontario Canada - and we are in an area where there is a lot of boating.

Even a selling base would be great - $1k $5k $10k -- where should I at least be thinking?

Ayuh,..... Ask a grand, 'n let it go for 5 or 600,.....

Depends on how desperate the new owner is,.....

Advertise it in places like the HAMB ( jalopy journal ). It's a boat anchor to boaters. Mercury pulled the plug on it before all the bugs were worked out. But some hotrodders like it for open wheeled hotrods

Throw a Dove II head on it and you have 250hp...
