Well I recieved all my supplies to make new plug wires . Does anyone have a suggestion on how to do a good job on crimping the threaded ends without distorting or making an elaborate fixture .

Thanks again ED

If they are threaded, you only need to strip-back enough insulation to fold-back onto the insulation where the threads will cover. This will give you a good connection. I allways solder them, but some would argue the old "disimular metals" debate. I don't disagree at all, but then, brass plug anodes are not the same as copper core plug wire iether.
You just can't get better than a soldered connection.

Eddy..... If you're speaking of the brass threaded ends that are attached to the plug/coil wire(s) which screw into a distributor cap, the following is how I attack that chore.

Take a piece of wood, drill a hole in it that will accept the threaded portion of the brass fitting, screw the brass fitting into that hole. If the piece of wood is large and will stay put, fine. If not, clamp it in a vice or whatever.

Strip back a short piece of the plug wire, just enough so that you can fold back the exposed inner wire against the plug wire insulation diameter. Cut off any wire that exceeds the diameter of the plug insulation. (It's a good idea to tint those wires with solder just before you fold them back).

Test the wire to make sure it will slide into the cup of the brass fitting.

Using a propane torch, and solder that is labeled to use for electronic work (electrical solder), heat the brass fitting (use a gentle flame) and melt the electrical solder within it until it is about half full.

Now, insert the plug wire and hold it there until the solder hardens (doesn't take long). Good Luck.

regarding Eddy62's question about crimping the plug wires, and 12Footer / Joe's answers, does this mean that you don't crimp them? I have the same problem. The solder sounds like a really good idea, I hadn't thought of doing that. I haven't been able to locate the crimping tool anyway. Thanks.
