Re: Stiff Steering

There should be a grease fitting at the hinge pin on the motor. Also on the top
of the helm (steering box) you might find a plastic tube, abt 8" long, and screwed into the top fitting of the helm. Remove this, fill it with penetrating lube, and put it back on. Be sure to put a plastic drop cloth or garbage bag under the helm on the floor, because it'll do a number on your carpet.
wipe the tube clean, and (once you're sure it's not dripping or leaking) work the steering back and forth until it frees-up.
Is the cable attached to a rod at the motor?
The reason I axe is, these tend to collect dirt and anything else. If you do, run it all the way out. Get a disposable rag, soak it in WD40, and wipe it clean. Do this after ever use, and it'll last forever, and never give you steering problems.

------------------
Quater Horse; The kiddy ride in front of K-Mart.

Re: Stiff Steering

Worked, the rod had rust inside of the sleeve. After a can of PB Blaster and some persuading it freed up and works like a champ. Thanks
