What year was the Last V 4 140 HP 2 cycle Evinrude/Johnson?

I think the first year for the V 4 Johnson/Evinrude was 1969. I would like to know the last year this V 4 was offered in a 140 HP and how much the 1970s V 4 weighs compaired to the last year of the same motor?
Does anyone know how much the new 130 E tec weighs and why they droped the 140? Thanks
PS, I have a 1977 140 and was wondering what it weighs?

1983 last 140 V4 crossflow, then came V4 90 degree looper. My guess the 130 E-Tec is a V4 looper with fuel injection. All newer engines are heavy. Check the 150 60 degree E-Tec for weight. BRP web site.

Your 1977 V4 weighs approximately 300lbs. All of the through-hub exhaust V4 crossflows were about the same weight give or take a few pounds.

From 1985 on the 140 was a loop charged motor. I had an '85 and it was much heavier than the '84's BC it used a V6 gearcase, but I don't think they continued the HD gearcase for too long after '85. If I remember right, my '85 weighed ~ 340 lbs., but who knows if my memory is worth a damn any more!

Looks like '94 was the last year for the 140.

Thank you so much. I have a very nice rebuilt and refinished 1977 115 but I would like to find a 1994 140 to get a little more power. Any Ideas where I can find one? Thanks again. I'm in Chicago.

had a 93' 140 rude. wish i never sold it. ran the Edit watch language TD out of that thing for 4 years no maintenance,no problems. dont know if they were made much past then. best out of the 10 i've owned.

You can do an "enhanced" ebay search within "x" miles of your zip code or you can go to craigslist.com and search by state and city (under boats heading). Also look in the newspaper classifieds as local shops may list several used motors in one ad with their business name. I found a history of v4's on GLM Products Inc. website under Tech Articles. Read section "1985-1994 90 degree V4 Loopcharged Outboards". (www.glmmarine.com/historyjohnevinv4.html). I believe the earlier "crossflows" had the thermostats low on the power head and the bolts can corrode up terribly/nightmare to get out. Looper has t'stats up top and more power. BRP website has exploded diagrams of all years and models. This iboat site also has motors for sale.

My 1988 140 looper weighs 378 pounds because it has the the extra long shaft with the larger 15 spline drive. The 1988 140HP looper with the standard long shaft weighed 368 pounds. These are "big bores" which are heavier than the earler 140HP loopers.

My 1978 140HP Xflow extra long shaft weighed 326 pounds and the standard long shaft model with the standard 13 spline gearcase weighed 318 pounds.

The piston displacement of the the crossflow was 99.6 cu. in. with a 2.59" stroke. The displacement of the looper was 122 cu. in. with a 2.858" stroke.

Easily, the loopers were most powerful. From '85 on they were propshaft rated, rather than crankshaft rated ... the loopers had tons of torque and about 5 to 8% more HP.
