Re: 1st Boat, 14ft Gamefisher.

My poor boat has yet to hit the water.
Having some issues getting the trailer title switched over to me, and my new job has eaten up a good deal of my time.

While not much has been done on the boat (still no deck, I want to see how it is on the water first), I got the Jeep all set up for towing, purchased a new trolling motor, a battery, and started working on some "electrical" stuff over the last two days.

Here is my battery box:

Also had one of the guys I work with hook me up with vinyls of the logo I made:

I am looking on some input input if anyone stumbles across this thread.

1. I am looking for a easy way to run wires to the front of the boat for lighting. I was thinking of epoxying a small piece of PVC tubing along the side of the boat to run wires through. Anyone have a better idea? Of course, when I finally do the deck, I can run the wires under that.

2. what is the easiest way to mount some type of anchor for seats on top of the existing fiberglass benches? Do they make something similar to a drywall anchor that will work? Am I thinking about this the wrong way? I have no access to the bottom of the benches.

as always, thanks in advance.

FINALLY!

I finally got the boat moved to my home last weekend. I moved it off the trailer to fix a small crack I could see with it on the trailer....once i got it flipped over, I found a hole the caused the crack. The previous owner never set the trailer up properly and the front section was riding on the trailer and a bolt head wore a hole through the first layer of fiberglass. My neighbor gave me a hand cleaning up the spot and repairing it.

After letting it dry all week, I took it out for "sea trials" today. Only had it out for about a half hour, but no leaks. Cant wait to go fishing the next nice day.

#1 1/2" pvc or grey elect conduit and fittings.... make a chace tube and run it along the hull.... use 90 degree elbows and risers up to your power and lights.

#2 Seats....industrial velcro strips come in handy for that.....then you'll have removable cushions you can store inside during winter ;)

Cool boat BTW Nice job bringing her back!

Re: 1st Boat, 14ft Gamefisher, Couple Questions...

Well, my little boat successfully spent the winter at my parents house thanks to a nice cover my wife's grandmother made for me. I towed it home 3 weeks ago, eager to go fishing, only to realize that when i got the registration (issued in 2 year periods in PA) mine was only given for a year, even though i paid the 2 year price. Not a huge deal, just a few bucks, but it meant I couldn't go fishing on the boat that weekend, so I went to my local lake to do some shore fishing....only to realize the water level was extremely low....too low at the ramp to float the boat off the trailer. Back home I went to the internet to find out why. Found they lowered the water level to repair the damn, wont be back to normal to the end of June. Does that suck? Yes, but, I now had some time and the boat was home, so I could start the deck I wanted to add.

I sketched up a design I thought would work and the night before I was planning on getting materials, I came across a thread on a message board. The poster had the same boat I have and did the same thing.....So I did what any fish crazed American would do and I completely pirated his design. (here is his build, really did turn out nice: Hawaiibassfishing.com :: View topic - Bass Boat Conversion)

Started work this past weekend, my main goal is to get the front casting deck completed, before the lake water level comes back up, then complete the rear section as time permits:

I am doing this on a very strict budget (the wife and I are currently house shopping), and it is not necessarily up to "marine code". I understand this and don't expect it to last as long as if it was done correctly. I am using non-pressure treated/marine grade wood that my father had laying around. Instead off applying resin to it, I am painting it with "Severe Storm" Acrylic house paint, because again, it was free, I had it left over from another project. The carpet I will be using, brace yourself, is again free, its is carpet left over from when they built the new office where I work.

My goal is to get a season or two out of the deck while my wife and I get settled into our first home, and start a family. At that point, it will probably be sold or given to my brother and I will pick up a fishing kayak.

A few good coats of paint and keeping it covered it will last a good while;) Good luck with the house hunt!

No Title

Well, not to revive an old thread, but I don't think this required a new one either.

Life kind of got in the way. Bought a house, got busy at work, constant traveling, I took some time off over 4th of July weekend and was finally able to get some work done.
It only took me two years, but I finally finished the casting deck in the boat. I think it turn out pretty good, but haven't had it in the water yet. Fingers crossed. I just renewed the registration and, so as soon as I get another day off, ill put it in the water. If it floats....im going fishin!
