Hope you guys liked the video update? I'll be trying to dig out the rest of the wood from the bottom and figuring out the stringer's wood this evening.

You know, the more replies, the more motivation. I could REALLY use some right about now guys...

Tonight I am going to try and put the transom in. It rained last night, hope it didn't soak the remaining areas, and its going to rain again tonight and probably all week.
This is what we call a Global Fail across the board. July 4th deadline is looming heavily. And that is my fully prepped date, not "splash" date as obviously I need to splash it, check everything out, then actually outfit it with the dozens of other things i'll need for a solid weekend on the lake.

:(

Well I'm watching but I'm not a fiberglass guy so I have no useful contribution.

Im with EZ on that one... tinny owner myself but i am always lurking around the projects. But hang in there man... You are meeting the real face of the dry dock... heck im 3 years into mine and no splash yet but wouldn't trade this experience for anything! Stay determined and you'll meet your deadlines. I like that you decided to replace the whole transom; patch job prob wouldn't have cut it. Im a big fan of do it right the first time and you wont have to worry bout it later!

It looks like you're doing great and I wouldn't worry too much about the rain. Cover it as good as you can and it'll be fine. That rot came from standing water, not one rain storm. Even though it doesn't seem like it now, you'll be glad you discovered this now as opposed to later. Going through all the effort of the repower, etc. and using it for a couple weeks (months) and THEN finding out you've got just as much work STILL would've really been heart breaking. You can still make the July 4th 'deadline' just stay at it, as weather permits.

Hey, you could send that rain down here as we need it!

Thanks guys I feel a lot better now :)

I am thinking I can still hit my July 4th date as well provided weather holds, and I can take a little time off work. This mon-fri 8-5 gig really does make personal projects challenging at best.

Well heres the latest, both engine mounts completely rotted. Original boat builders did a **** POOR job glassing with matt over the engine mounts. They created a cavity, and didn't seal it and didn't provide a drain. What the hell was the water SUPPOSED to do?

Good grief.... here see for yourself:

3 new pics added to the phase 5 album, of the rotten mounts.

Like to see a good small block V-8 rumbling along anytime. I hope there's no more water issues with your oil... Keep us posted

ENTIRE TRANSOM INSTALLED / GLASSED

TWO MOTOR MOUNTS INSTALLED / GLASSED

Entire new engine bay!!!
Painted 1 coat, will paint another tomorrow and take finished pics. All i need after is to finish the motor prep and install the bilge pump.

That is when the real fun begins, MOTOR TIME!

I'm using Rust-o-leum flat white and a mix of yellow and almond to get as close to the original hue as possible on my gelcoat.
My buddy got it pretty close on his first try, so we decided to go with it.

Well it was the intake manifold gaskets:

UPDATE: Both intake manifold gaskets replaced and permatexed into place. This was the source of my water breach and i'm hoping today when I run it that there will be no more issues!

Replaced the intake manifold gaskets twice now, its still leaking water into the oil. Only other place HAS to be the head gaskets so guess what? Pulling the entire engine apart again....................

Well the Ford is F*@(#ed.
Crack / Hole in the wall of Cyl #7.

Was a good project while it lasted though?
