I'll have a couple more vids up, my "new" fuel sender unfortunatly doesn't read properly and shows a little less than half a tank even when it was dry lol. I swear I installed it right....

Got the "new to me" outdrive installed, replaced all the ball gears and had major steering problems with the worm gear just binding.
Come to find out it was the steering gear protruding from the intermediate housing that was damaged. One of the teeth was mangled enough from a piece of the ball gear getting stuck in there, that it couldn't mesh and turn.
Had to switch that out and replaced the whole worm gear / stearing shaft in the housing while I Was at it just in case it was warped.

Was out saturday night from like 4pm till midnight. Was fine till I ran out of gas, but 175$ / 38gallons later I was 3/4ths again so :)

I'll tell you what man, i know the insides of these drives so well now I have dreams about proper shim clearance for the planetaries!

I will say this, the drives are very simple in design, which means that if properly cared for they will last a LONG long time. I can tell by the casting, journals and areas of the drive engineered to bear a sustained load.
Not saying merc drives aren't reliable either, but they ARE more complex leaving many more components to fail.

I kinda like not having a trim system to worry about.

I see on one post the serial # of the boat. Where is it located under the rub strip, port/starboard. Stern/Bow or amidship ??? Also, does it show the year of manufacture ??
