Hey, I have some spidercracks in my top cap and wanted to see if I can minimize the appearance of them. I was thinking of using a needle to open them up a bit and then using some sort of clear coat to fill it then wetsand and buff it after. Anyone ever tried this before? Any recommendations on what to use? I can't seem to search the forum anymore for whatever reason. This is a fiberglass boat with sparkl gelcoat and then a fairly thick clear coat. Not sure what material the coat is... Resin.. Gel??? no idea. Anyone know what they use on bass boats to do the clear coat part?

Also I should mention that the spider cracks are pretty minor and do not appear to have gone all the way through to the colored base. I can see in a few of them a little bubbling/separation between the colored part and clear coat part.

depends on manufacturer. some use clear paint, some use clear gel.

clear gel has minimal UV protection properties and has a finite life (about 20 years)

best bet....grind off the offending gel and either re-gel or repaint.
