Crap on transom cracked

new project 1997 stratos 2100 center console going to repower with a newer motor . Took motor off and inspected holes all wood or what ever it is made of I don’t , no water intrusion can’t scrap anything out of it its hard , it after taking the aluminum trim plate it has a crack where a screw was placed no flex at all it was loaded with sealer from factory. Is there a way to repair it so it does not get larger , I’m sure it would over time if nothing is done looks like there was a small. Void when built .cannot get a razor blade in between the cap just a bit in this spot again nothing comes out .

Any recommendations on repairing the crack on the top of my transom? No water intrusion but a void under it ,pretty shure it been that way many years where they put the screw in , but don’t want to go get worse , repowering and took the trim cap off it

I suggest there is more work ahead then you hope (expect?)...

looks to me like the plywood transom has gotten wet, swollen, cracked the fibeeglass skin and since dried, at least at the edges and in the thru hole.

is the 1 bad crack running thru a hole on the flat horiontal of the transom, doesnt look like its on the vertical transom surface

some have fab'd their own aluminum transom cap or had a metal fab shop make them 1

a metal plate over a transom is never a good sign.
