Hello all. I have been reading the posts around here for a few weeks, and amazed at the amount of information that is shared here.

A little about my project. My wife's aunt/uncle have a large lot and have several people that store stuff on their property. This boat has been sitting on their lot for over 7 years uncovered. I had inquired about it several times over the years. They finally put me in touch with the owner who had owned it since it was new, and had planned to clean it back up again but never found the time. So he agreed to sell it to me for a couple hundred.

So here is my new project, (wife calls it my new "money drain"):

Looking forward to hearing all your thoughts, and learning everything I can.

Make sure you got the proper paperwork (title transfer info) from the previous owner, else any work you do on the boat will be all for not.

I would assume that since it is a 1980 vintage boat and been sitting out in the weather for 7+ years that things must be rotting down below. It would be best to see if that is the case..

Yes, my first items on my plan so far is to remove the entire floor, and go through piece by piece.

As for the title and transfer papers, I actually had the original owner join me at the fish and game (AZ is a no title state) and had the Fish and Game verify what we needed.

Keep us current on what you dig up, literally. Per tpenfield, seven years in the open is not good on the structure. If the motor works, you could have a nice project boat for a couple hundred. Be prepared for a big project though. This forum has the know-how. Take more measurements than you think you'll need as you're uncovering things.

Will do for sure!! I plan on taking pictures and measurements of everything, and posting it all up here. (My form of naivety insurance, if I don't notice or know something, hopefully someone else will)

So long time in searching, but I finally found a working Singer 15-91 for the upholstery, and its beautiful.

I'll tag along. The five gallon bucket helm seat was a premium upgrade back in the early '80s. Just kidding. My uncle has a habit of water testing boats while sitting on a bucket. He never bothers to put the helm seat back in until he's sure everything else works. Good luck!
