Wow. Yeah. Sounds like a potential solution for your problem. If there are spots where the stringers go under permanent glassed in fixtures on the deck, you may even be able to pull them laterally from inside of the hollowed out stringers. The key, obviously, is to save yourself from having to re-deck and re-fixture the whole deck. Yeah. I'd start a new thread.

You could try I guess .. But if the foam is full of water it would need to come out anyway .. And the deck may break loose when you cut through the tops of the stringers ... And really if you think about it after the pour you really want the new stringer cap to lap over and down the sides of the stringer for strength .. jmho
