Is there by chance a legible serial number on the top part of the transom/gimbal housing assembly sticker where it says Mercruiser?

Also appears to be a HIN stamped into the hull, above the starboard tow eye on the transom.

If so, that makes it a post 1972, and should decode to provide the year.

The outdrive plate is 5214422.
While the transom assembly could have been changed at any time, the serial number range seems to put it somewhere between 1977 - 1982...From past experience the numbers that start with a low 6 usually tends to be 1980/81 so the guesstimate would 78/79. Do you know the engine size if available? The chart below might help in some way too.

Being that the boat appears to be made after 1972, Are you able to locate the Hull ID number typically found on the transom outside upper starboard corner... http://boatsafe.com/nauticalknowhow/hin.htm

If there's a number there, post it for more possible info.

I had what looks to be the same boat which was a 1979. Like jbcurt noted above, the hull ID number is just above the starboard lift ring ...... the last two digits of that number will be the model year.
