2003 yamaha 150's (carbed) factory service manual

Is there another resource for a factory service manual for my twin yammie 150's other than a dealer? I'd rather not use Clymer or other "generic" outboard manuals. I've got 80 hrs on them and will soon need to address some maintenance issues. Also, is there anything in particular I need to pay...

How does a Racor water separator work?

I've got the kind with the clear blue bowl and a drain at the bottom. I used a mason jar the other day to catch what came out of the filter. It quickly separated into two sections...a tan/brownish section (at the bottom) with very small, weird shaped things floating in it and a clear top...

    protective spray for powerhead

I've got a pair of carbed 150 yamahas that i run exclusively in salt water. Is there a recommended spray that i can apply to the powerheads to minimize the effects of corrosion and salt spray? :)

    03 150 carbed yamaha 20 hr service

I've got two 03 150 carbed yamahas that I've finally hit the 20 hour service mark. My manuals haven't come in yet, so could someone please inform me what needs to be done other than change the lower unit oil, clean/replace spark plugs and re-torque the head bolts. Thanks in advance. :)

    00 merc 200 efi bad fuel ?

My father hasn't used his rig for over 8 months, so i'm a little concerned about the fuel inside the engine. He didn't stabilize the fuel prior to storage. Is there something I can do or do I need to haul it to a dealer. Thanks for your help.

    91 evrinrude 150 forward/reverse

I've sold the twin 150's and the new owner installed them on his rig (long story). He had twin evinrude 115's so he was able to use his harnesses and cables. When he shifts the port motor into forward, it goes in reverse and vice versa. The starboard motor shifts into gear but suddenly dies...

    props for 04 150 yamahas

I've got two standard rotation 04 150 carbed yamahas behind a 24' Grady White with a full transom and bracket. It's a walkaround model with a hardtop. Without gas and gear she's a good 4,300 lbs. Throw in 90 gallons of gas, wife, kids, dog and a months worth of towels, food and suntan lotion...

    removing cured epoxy from seat

When I was laminating new stringers into place, I accidentally dripped some epoxy onto one of my molded in place seats. How can I remove it without damaging the gelcoat? :(

    gas tank grounding wire

I noticed on my aluminum gas tank that there's a place to mount a ground wire to discharge static electricity. Where do I terminate the other end without using a grounding plate...to the engine block? The stainless steel bolts that hold the outboard mounting bracket to the transom or negative...

    swim platform construction

I'm finishing up the mold for my swim platform and am contemplating the core material. I used 3/4" Douglas fir for my stringers, so it seems reasonable to use the same wood for the platform. However, I've managed to find 3/8 pine from a large crate. Could I laminate the two 3/8 pieces...

    mounting twin 04 150's

Looks like I'll be mounting my new twin 150's on my 24' Grady this weekend :D . I've got the old style Grady bracket and there's a lot of weight back there too; oil reserviors, batteries and a swim platform. I'm guessing it's got 26"-28" of set back. With all this weight back there, do I...

    build swim platform

I've got an 87 24' Grady White with a full transom and the old Grady style bracket. I took the wimpy teak swim platform off. I'm contemplating making a fiberglass swim platform that will extend the full width of the transom and mount on top of the platform. Two ideas come to mind. I could...

    91 150 evinrude compression

I fired it up for the first time since the rebuild earlier this week. Runs like a new motor. But I'm curious about what I sould expect from the compression readings. Since it hasn't been broken in (only about 15 minutes on the muffs), does the +/- 10% rule still apply? :)

    91 evinrude 150 rebuild - It Works!

I put the finishing touches on my 91 150 evinrude rebuild today. I checked for spark, set the timing, attached the fuel hose to an auxillary gas tank at 25:1, hooked up the muffs, said a small prayer and turned the key. With no hesitation, it fired right up. Water pump worked, no gas leaks...

    battery charging issues

When i put my battery on charge today, the charger started out on 4 and slowly went up to 12. I switched chargers and batteries and got the same result. These are new 1000 cca marine starting batteries i bought last year. They'<br />ve been sitting all winter with no charging and only used to...

    24 grady stringer replacement

After having water ooze out after prodding with a screwdriver, I opted to replace the inner set of stringers from the forward bulkhead to the rear bulkhead. These were the most easily accessible. Well, easy compared to separating the hull or cutting the deck. I basically used a prybar and paint...

    91 evinrude 150 set timing

i've finished the rebuild on my 91 evinrude 150 E150EXEIS and ready to set the timing. The manual states to use the OMC ignition analyzer to properly set the timing. Is there another method I can use so i don't have to purchase that piece of equipment?

91 150 evinrude vro rebuild kits

I've got a 91 evinrude E150EXEIS that needs the rebuild kit for the vapor pump assy. I ordered the recommended VRO rebuild kits from my local dealership, but none included the vapor pump rebuild kit i need. I ordered the following kits. Housing (174127), kit assy (436095) and kit assy...

    securing aluminum gas tank

I've finished the repairs on my 94 gallon aluminum gas tank. Had the welder put a plug into the small hole on the rear bottom edge. Turns out, this tank is 1/4" aluminum. No wonder it's so heavy. Anyway, I've covered the edges with 2 layers of epoxy and 1 1/2 oz mat. i put 2 thick layers of...

twin carbed or single four stroke

I have a 24' Offshore Pro Grady i'm going to repower. it's got a full transom with a twin bracket (original grady bracket). Hull weight is 3000 lbs, but throw in a hardtop, fuel/water tanks, gear and outboard(s) I'm problably well over 5000 lbs. I'm considering twin 150 carbed yamahas or a...
