1990 Johnson 25hp outboard 2stroke
I'm running through the simple springtime maintenance type stuff and went through and greased all the nipples. Normally, I just pump until I see grease get pushed out from somewhere.
I attached a picture of the nipple for the gear shifter - so far i've pumped a tube and a half (the small 3oz tubes) into it and have yet feel pressure or see it exit from anywhere. I've had this motor two years and this is my 2nd go 'round greasing the fittings. I don't recall this issue the first time. I can't imagine it should hold this much grease, I'm afraid I'm now just shoving grease into some cavity somewhere. I tried to search for how much grease it should hold but no luck. Any thoughts before i pull it apart to see where all this grease is going?
I don't think this matters, but just in case - I just pulled the foot off and replaced all the seals. I don't think this has anything to with my current issue but it might. The shift linkage on this motor separates at the water intake, so nothing even close to this zerk fitting was touched.
Thanks,
David
