hello, I'm new here.
Sorry, my English is not very good, but I think you will understand me.
The whole time, I was looking for an old classic boat.
Now I have the chance to buy a Carlson CV-18 ss.
Is there anyone, who knows sth. about this boat, who can give me some information?
Outside and inside it is in a good condition (original color and seat-cover, no damages, no repairs necessary, ready to drive), the maintenace of the motor (Ford 351, about 400hp- a little bit too much for me) and the jet was made in 2010, both work very well.

Just your opinion.
Thank you very much,

harry1

Looks like a fabulously fun way to rid yourself of all that extra gas money in your wallet :D

Nice boat, love those older jets. Curious how they arrived at the 400hp number for a 351

Re: your opinion

oldjeep, I just had a look at your webside.
Good work! I`m impressed.
So I should check the power, perhaps it is less - I would be glad.
Bye

Re: your opinion

The CV18ss is a model sought after by Glastron/Carlson enthusiasts. Aren't a whole lot of em around. That appears to be a '74 in the 'Apricot' metalflake. 302 was a motor/jet combo in those years but if it's a 351 it has probably been upgraded. Good upgrade btw. And if it is in fact pushing 400hp you'd better hang onto your hat. Oughta do 75 on a bad day ...

Check out ClassicGlastron.com for factory pics/info.

My opinion should be obvious: If it's as nice as it sounds buy it! 'Specially in Europe, you'll be the only kid on the block that has one. Good luck!

Edit: Yo Harry don't ever think "too much hp". I prefer "hp in reserve ..."?

Re: your opinion

Beautiful looking boat. I'll tell you the same thing someone told me when I was looking at my first >1000 cc motorcycle - the throttle isn't an on/off switch - you can always back off a bit. From personal experience (after now having several liter bikes), that advice only lasts a little while!

Lookes like a fun boat, if you get it, make sure to take it easy for a while and work your way up through the throttle range. Definitely post back with pictures if you do a restoration.

Re: your opinion

thank you much, all of you.
Next week I will travel to the seller and make an intensive inspection.
Hope, everything will be all right with this boat, I like it too.
At the moment I have not the time for a big restoration,
only polishing and fondle it;)
I will provide you with pictures and later with a video (in action) as soon as possible.

Perhaps you have some ideas what I should inspect accurate

Bye,

What kind of drive is that? I'm used to seeing Berkely drives on the older boats, but that doesn't look like one of them to me.

@ kiwifisher
@ DuckHunterJon

.........you scare me. In fact, the owner told me that the boat can be dangerous when driving fast- but I think other boats too ;). Therefore the boat has a railing:D

@ oldjeep

I have no more information about the jet but I will inform you a.s.a.p

With a snazzy paint job! Kidding Harry. If that thing runs as good as it looks I'd say it's a heckuva find. You can paint the jet drive later ... Can't wait for shakedown pics!

Take care.

Weird, what is that huge shower drain looking down turn on it? The Berkely drives I've seen all mount flat to the boat without that extra chunk in the middle.

Ya. Appears to have some sorta pump extention on it. Not all that weird but weird for a Glastron/Carlson. I'm bettin' the shower drain thingamajig is an exhaust diverter?
