My brother and myself bought a boat together in 1986. Skeeter Starfire. What a wonderful boat is was.

We planned out our trip to Lake Fork with precision. Got up at 5:00 a.m. and headed out. Wonderful day on the lake. Caught more fish than ever before.

We start drinking beer around 11:00 a.m. and we both were feeling the effects of the heat, alcohol and not much to eat. Now it is 6:00 p.m. and we are tired, burned and yes drunk.

We return to the launch and put the boat on the trailer, get in the truck and off we go. We are going around 60 mph when two girls pull up next to us on the interstate. They are waving at us and yelling. So I roll down the window and say What's Up Baby. She says " You lost your boat about five miles back ". Well needles to say it was destroyed and we were only able to salvage some of our tackle. The rest of our tackle was picked over by other motorist.

It seems that we never tied her down to the trailer.

I know I will receive some real comments about this.

I have never since drank while boating and refuse to even with everyone else around me doing it.

We were so lucky not to have hurt or killed anyone with this stupidity.

Drinking alcohol on the water has proved to be a death wish. I have seen some really interesting things happen on Lake Texoma with intoxicated operators.
