Any one using a natural prostate remedy with some degree of success? I have a prescription of FlowMax but do not want to use it. I'm already taking enough other stuff. On the other hand I am tired of having to get up multiple times during the night.

I don't mind so much the getting up to go. It's the having to concentrate to start that bugs me!

Sorry, no answer for your question. Been meaning to do some research myself. Had the Flowmax a few months back. Got all the side-effects, but no benefits.

Been there, Boomer. That was back in the early 90s. Doc had me on Hytrin, which was a bad idea because I was also taking heart meds and they didn't like each other. Had several episodes of dangerously low BP. Many modern remedies do the same thing.

Solution was a TURP (Trans-Urethal-Resection of the Prostate). That was the worst night of my life. They have much better methods of resectioning the prostate now. The results were good and permanent. Talk with your Doc about it.

Since I had Prostate cancer and they radiated mine, I have to use Flomax. Now there is a generic version that lowers cost. Have not had any side effects but sure makes it a lot easier.

Well, it was a ream job and it was beyond uncomfortable for a couple of days, but it worked. My Doc tells me that modern methods are almost out-patient.

Well JB, I will ask about it but the only way that I can see that it wouldn't be excruciating is if they send you home with a catheter and a bag.

My memory won't let me tell you what "Dr. William Douglass" told me, but, I'd look into his advice if I were you.

I am not too old (34) but I am diabetic and have to get up frequently in the night to go. Getting up to go is not the problem. It is the stumbling around to get to the bathroom in the dark that is a problem. I have a blue nightlight in the bathroom to help guide my way. The problem is I also have a wireless Laser Jet printer near one of my closets that also glows blue. If I am disoriented and head towards the wrong blue light I end up in the closet. I have not let loose a stream in the closet yet, but it sure does wake you up when you reach down to raise the toilet seat and can't find one anywhere. That is when I have to turn on all the lights to figure out where I am and by then my senses are reset and I don't sleep the rest of the night. Now that I think about it I should probably put a peace of tape over that light since I know the printer is on.

Boom: I was gonna' send you a PM with a link, but your box is full :) I've had great success (different issue), and have some friends who've had outstanding success with a homeopathic remedy. If you're interested in it (VERY reasonably priced), send me a PM and I'll send you their link.

I went thru the 'whole thing' with the enlarged prostrate, and now it is 'months on', having the TURP op is the best thing I could have done. No meds, no having to be careful what I drink at night, and I sleep right thru the night (like a baby), every night. Every so often I like to 'thunder' into the middle of the bowl just so I know what I got for my money.

My brother (the Englishman) is having problems and his partner has him on Pomegranate seeds. He says they are great, but the Uncle says 'B/S - when he stays he goes several times every night'.

Good luck.

Cheers
Phillip

I am at that point in my life also but my wife says it has it advantages in the Winter. Since I am already up it is my job to put wood in the stove. Since I am already going out on the porch for wood my 14 year old dog gets his chance to go out and water the lawn too.

Re: You young guys need not read this.

An old guy goes to his doctor for his physical and gets sent to the Urologist as a precaution.
When he gets there, he discovers the Urologist is a very pretty female doctor.

The female doctor says, "I'm going to check your prostate today, but this new procedure is a little different from what you are probably used to.

I want you to lie on your right side, bend your knees, then while I check your prostate, take a deep breath and say,
'99'.
The old guy obeys and says,

"99".

The doctor says, "Great", now turn over on your left side and again, while I repeat the check, take a deep breath and say,

'99".

Again, the old guy says,

'99'."
The doctor said, “Very good”.

Now then, I want you to lie on your back with your knees raised slightly.

I'm going to check your prostate with this hand, and with the other hand I'm going to hold on to your p*n*s

to keep it out of the way.

Now take a deep breath and say,

'99'.

The old guy begins,

"One...

two…

three…"
