Hi folks,

We stumbled upon this forum while doing research before buying what we think is a 1957 Starcraft Ski Champ (14 feet). Once we get the title and bill of sale (via snail mail) and get new plates for the trailer, we'll go out to western Mass and pick it up and bring it to its new home.

By all accounts and according to the pictures we've seen, it's in great condition (only used by a little old lady on Sundays? Not quite but almost!) and ready to go. We can't wait to bring her home and try her out!

Once she's here, we'll post some pix.

This looks like a place with lots of knowledgeable folks, so you can be sure we'll be back with questions!

Re: Yet another new owner

Hello,

Today my 18yo son showed up with a 14 foot Starcraft ski champ!
It is in boxes but it appears to have everything except the windshield.
Needs lots of work but he has youthful enthusium.
It was good to look at the pictures you linked to on the site you brought
your boat from so that we could see what it was suppose to look like.
Hopeing to someday have it look like yours! If we get in a pinch would you
be able to help us out by posting pictures if possible? You didn't
get a manual with yours...did you?
It is a good thing aluminum is high priced...if it gets too bad we can always sell it for scrap and parts.....
Thanks,
Newbieskichamp...someday.....

Re: Yet another new owner

Woo hoo! Well, we pulled the little boat home last night, from Oxford, MA to Harwich, MA (on Cape Cod), and the little Tee Nee trailer performed like a champ! Our lovely little Starcraft is now sitting in the side yard, waiting for us to gear up and take her out!

On a related note, we found the original maker's tag on the inside of the transom, and imagine our surprise when we discovered that she's not a Ski Champ, she's actually a Speed Queen (top photo).

Newbieskichamp, we'd love to help out by supplying photos, but they may not be as helpful as we imagined. I think you and your son should go for it anyway!

We'll post photos as we make upgrades.

Re: Yet another new owner

Thanks for your help. We have the boat cleaned up. All the main pieces sanded, stained and varnished, and primed for the metal pieces. We are at the point where we need to attach the gunwale to the boat with rivets and build some type of structure under it (called the inwale I believe) but are unsure as to how to do this. Can you send a detailed picture of how the front of the boat is attached. I will try to attach pictures of what I am talking about but this site does not like most of my photos because they are too large....

Thanks,
The Newbie
