Yellowish goop in drive oil res

Hey Guys,
Now I recently purchased a boat and changed the drive oil, the oil that came out of the drive was fine, looked good, but I noticed a build up of yellowish goop build up in the bottom of the reservoir. So I took the reservoir off, and cleaned it out before putting in the new gear oil. Now I notice the 'goop' is starting to build up at the bottom of the res again... any ideas?

Did you use new O-Rings when you changed your drive oil? (Water gets in if not)

Did you use the recommended Mercruiser drive oil?

Are you sure that you did not mix two different drive oils?

Ayuh,... Water intrusion is My guess....
