Look more at what type of use that you need and make your selection based on that........then narrow it down from there to the manufacturer that best suits your needs with a particular model. For lighter loads and smaller boats, look at Tohatsu/Nissan also, very fine manufacture thats been around a long time, very reliable, with EXCELLENT prices with outboards up to 140 HP 2 and 4 stroke. A 2 year warranty is a must on anything you buy today. Shy away from first year production models if possible. Jus' don't make a quick decision on an impulse of the moment.

I,ve owned both Suzuki and Mercury. The Suzuki 4 stroke was a spectacular engine but parts and service were a nightmare. It took weeks for the local dealer to fix a minor problem because part wasn't available. The Mercurys that I've owned(2) were also reliable but parts were practically on every streetcorner and there were many places to take them for service. Don't know about Yamaha- I've never owned one but don't take the parts/service thing too lightly- it can really come back to bite you later- happy shopping
